Madonna 2023: Celebrates The Big 40!

On July 27th, 2023, Madonna celebrated the 40th anniversary of her first album, the multi-platinum selling self-titled Madonna.

Still today, in 2023, blaring into minds of her adoring masses from global car radio stations, minute by minute, from said album, are “Holiday,” “Lucky Star,” and “Borderline.” That’s favorable to me as a fan, because I always knew she was fantastic. I feel even better seeing how she truly is immortal. Perhaps that means all of us are, too.

As a matter of fact, even after forty years, all of the songstress’ songs stream madly by the millions, month by month. That’s why I say, again, I believe her popularity will never change.

On 22 May, 1990, Madonna released I’m Breathless, which featured a genuinely classic array of pop 1930’s style. I’m Breathless was inspired by the motion picture movie “Dick Tracy,” starring Warren Beatty, but Madonna stole the show from everyone. The whole school (situated in the little Oregonian countryside town I’m from) was singing Madonna from I’m Breathless, such as, “He’s a Man,” “Now I’m Following You,” and “Vogue.” It was so much fun!

I’m Breathless was followed by the biggest powerhouse second punch ever delivered into modern day pop music: Madonna’s The Immaculate Collection. That second album drop in the same year, 1990, made the biggest songs young women listened to over and over again in the 1980’s, suddenly available in a single album. It contained most of the chart-topping songs from Madonna’s earlier albums: Madonna (1983), Like a Virgin (1984), Vision Quest (1985), True Blue (1986), and Like a Prayer (1989). The Immaculate Collection also included a perfectly produced version of “Vogue” from I’m Breathless, as well as two additional mega-fun songs “Rescue Me,” and “Justify My Love.”

Looking at the social media posts under Madonna’s name, I find myself applauding how gorgeous she still remains. I am reminded of a day back in 1990, on my family’s Oregon blueberry farm. At 11 years old, I had acquired various promotional posters and stickers at bookstores. I invited my mom to walk upstairs and see one wall of my bedroom suddenly plastered with Madonna. Mom swore that she knew I was in trouble, and called for assistance from any member of my family, or the school faculty, to assist. Apparently, my home-made Madonna shrine proved I was a young lady with an attitude.

Pre-dating Druidism, in the far East, certain religions believe dire measures must be taken to remove evil doings of another that entwine wrongfully with an aura. In that same line, they believe someone “strangely” doing good acts (such as speaking favorably of them, or helping them carry a heavy load) only provide evidence that the recipient had magically entered the do-gooder’s body. In the recipient’s minds, the do-gooder was now a puppet, and so they might try to continue to dominate and own them.

Won’t mention any modern religious titles at all. People are fairly and rightfully touchy when it comes to protecting their personal religious beliefs. You can always come off on the wrong foot, even when you’re honestly not trying to bash. I’m only mentioning this because Madonna radios to the masses a peaceful approach to silly mind-control games of individuals who are prone to dominate.

That is the way I always see Madonna. Isn’t that a funny thing to write about?

The Article 27 Music Project was designed by me, in 2019, to have a fair say in our rights to speak freely within the borders of the United States of America. Share we do, however, the same land with foes and competitors of our forefathers! How much, then, to ask that we also remember and appreciate the friends? Mom, sorry to bring you up at all, and I love you. But Madonna is still a primary influencer in this regular world.
